Hello readers! I am actually a super budget and thrifty person, and I'm always looking out for the best 'lobangs' to get the best savings!
Recently I wanted to get Universal Studios Singapore student season pass and I found a great hack to get it for a much much cheaper price!
This hacks works for both season and annual passes, for both adults and students. If you have a valid student ID, I strongly recommend you get a student season pass because you can save more $$$! Who doesn't want to save money right?
Now as most people know, you can buy a normal USS ticket and then top up to get the respective season pass.
Here are the normal retail prices for one-day tickets into USS:
And here are the normal retail prices for season passes into USS:
Normally, people will buy the normal one-day ticket at the retail price of $76, and top up $12 to get the $88 student season pass. Or top up $22 to get the normal adult season pass.
Why pay $88 for the student season pass when I've found a way to get it for only $70?
Some people try to get e-tickets from other online authorised distributors like GoVoyagin or Klook. But most of them sell the tickets for about $68-$70. It's not that big of a saving :/
However, if you get the ticket from Carousell, there are actually many accounts that specialise in selling attraction tickets! While there is the element of risk, because you might get scammed, all you have to do is to make sure that the account is legitimate. The best way to check if the account good and reliable, is to check their reviews!
There are MANY accounts, selling the tickets at prices from $58-60! Sometimes, I am even able to negotiate till $100 for a pair of tickets. That's saving $20 plus!!!! :O
Now, I've tried this hack with an e-ticket, and I had confirmed with the seller that it was possible for me to use the e-ticket and top up into a season pass. Thus, I strongly recommended you get an e-ticket too, because some of the tickets that are sold on Carousell are 'staff tickets' or 'VIP tickets' and I am unsure if they can be upgraded into a season pass.
I got my open-dated e-ticket for $58, and it came with a FREE $5 meal voucher and $5 retail voucher. (requires minimum spending)
The Carousell seller sent the e-ticket and vouchers to my emails in about 5 minutes.
After you enter USS by scanning the bar code or QR code on the e-ticket, just turn left into the membership area and sign up!
I showed them my student ID and I was able to top up to a student season pass by paying $12!
$58 for the e-ticket + $12 top up = $70 for the student season pass!! (original price: $88)
If you do not have a student ID, it will be:
$58 for the e-ticket + $22 top up = $80 for the adult season pass! (original price: $98)
Hack unlocked :)
Another hack would be to top up to your season pass before you purchase your food, as you actually can get a 10% discount when you show your season pass card :)
This 10% discount can stack with the $5 meal voucher that I got by the way! Amazing, right?! I couldn't believe it when I first tried it too.
Now in case you were wondering if it was possible to just "borrow" somebody's season pass and pretend to them, and enter USS, the answer is no. The season pass card actually has your photo on it for identification purposes, so that's not possible, I've thought of this method before too ><
Oh, I also asked the seller on Carousell where he gets his e-tickets from, and he said he has a supplier, and it's a trade secret. I sure hope it's not illegal though! The e-tickets have the official USS logo on it.
Hope this hack helps you save some money! I always believe in the idea of "sharing is caring" so be sure to share this with your friends and family through Facebook or Twitter! Also, feel free to leave any comments and I will try my best to answer your queries :)
